That Dropping Feeling – The Truth About Impotence
It’s every man’s nightmare – in bed with your lady and ready to get down to business, when your little soldier resolutely fails to respond to the messages your brain is sending downstairs.
Impotence or, to use its official name, erectile dysfunction, is a one-off problem for many, usually caused by too much alcohol. However, if the problem goes beyond the odd bout of brewer’s droop, then it can have serious effect on your confidence and the health of your relationship.
Statistics suggest that as many as 1 in 10 men suffer from the problem at some point in their lives but the causes are wide ranging and it is important to remember that there is a difference between erectile dysfunction and so-called ‘emotional impotence’ – i.e. it could be an actual physical problem or it could be related to some sort of emotional issue that is affecting your sex life. Emotional factors affecting a man’s sexual performance can include depression, stress, sexual fears, or past sexual trauma and may need counselling to identify and overcome.
The physical causes of impotence are equally varied and can include the effects of drug addiction, hormone imbalances, diabetes, and spinal and brain injuries. Smoking is also a factor in many cases of impotence.
Whatever the reason, in the vast majority of cases, impotence is not something you have to suffer with and cures can range from simply taking more exercise to surgery. If you are having problems with impotence then don’t suffer in silence – there is a solution out there that can work for you, you just have to find it.
